CALLIGRAM-a word or piece of text in which the design and layout of the letters creates a visual image related to the meaning of the words themselves.

PICTOGRAMS-a pictorial symbol for a word or phrase. Pictographs were used as the earliest known form of writing, examples having been discovered in Egypt and Mesopotamia from before 3000 BC.
This pictogram is showing the company IBM. The viewer is meant to think to take the picture as if it was a word. |
This pictogram is showing the store named Sears. The viewer is meant to think of the ear in a plural sense in order to make it seem like the store's name. |
This pictogram is showing a search engine named FireFox. The viewer is meant to think of fire and a fox and put it together. |
